Gardening for Kids Launch Moon Garden for Insect Week

Gardening for Kids and the Royal Entomological Society Launch First-of-its-kind Moon Garden for Insect Week 2026

Gardening for Kids, a small family business specialising in gardening products exclusively for children, will be launching a brand-new type of growing kit this year: Moon Garden. Designed in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society, Moon Garden specifically attracts crucial night-time pollinators such as moths, many of whose numbers are declining across the nation.

This partnership combines Gardening For Kids’ experience in designing and marketing engaging growing kits for children and novice gardeners with the Royal Entomological Society’s leading scientific understanding and research of Britain’s insects. This exciting new growing kit aims to inspire admiration for the world of night-flying insects to children and grown-ups alike – no gardening experience is necessary. Louise Edgeworth, Owner and Director of Gardening for Kids, explains that parents often lack confidence in gardening (“I can’t even keep grass alive!”), so these simple and reliable kits are designed to educate and empower children and their parents to learn together.

“This is our most exciting launch yet”, said Louise.

“So many of us are unaware of the rich diversity of pollinators that come out only at night. We hope to inspire our children to love and understand all pollinators, night-time and daytime, and help conserve and protect them for future generations.”

Moon Garden contains everything needed to grow four delicate, pale, night-scented flowers that look great in the daytime, too: nicotiana, sweet rocket, white sweet peas, and night-scented stock. Kits come with a colourful and engaging information booklet – developed with Royal Entomological Society experts – explaining the vital role that moths play in our ecosystems, and how to spot them in your garden. All kits are peat free, plastic free and biodegradable, in keeping with Gardening for Kids’ commitment to tread lightly on the world’s resources.

Moon Garden will be available to wholesale and retail buyers for the first time on 20th June, in time for Insect Week, 22–28th June. Gardening for Kids will also showcase Moon Garden alongside other ranges to wholesale buyers at Home & Gift Festival, Harrogate in July 2026, including best-selling: Little Nature Explorers, Get Growing! and Grow Something Different.

About Gardening for Kids
Gardening for Kids is a small family business specialising in gardening products exclusively for children. Inspired by a GCSE student’s comment to Louise, our Owner Director and then secondary school teacher, “What’s the point of plants, miss?”, Gardening for Kids was conceived to equip a new generation of young growers with the skills and confidence to grow their own flowers, fruit and vegetables.

Since then, Gardening for Kids has grown to become the UK’s leading retailer in children’s gardening, and a key supply partner to schools, businesses, charities and local authorities. We pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability, and to encouraging children not only to engage with nature, but to be its advocate for years to come.
