The Awards Line Up for Clockwork Soldier

The multi-award-winning Clockwork Soldier has once again made the finals of the Gift of the Year Awards with the sustainable, design-led gifts for children. At the core of Clockwork Soldier is a commitment to the environment, fun, nostalgia, and education. Clearly the awards judges recognised the brand’s commitment to innovation and the power of play.  

The joyous, educational, and eco-friendly gifts for children that have been announced as finalists in this year’s Gift of the Year Awards are the Make Your Own Dinosaur Timeline & World Map (Children’s and Educational category) and Create Your Own Paper Pocket Money Kits! (Design and Craft and Under £15 category).  

The Make Your Own Dinosaur Timeline & World Map invites you to take a giant step into the world of dinosaurs and learn all about these amazing creatures. You can explore the world map and see where your child’s favourite dinosaurs were discovered. What is particularly special about this product is that it is a totally interactive gift, complete with an activity sheet to play and learn all about the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. All this and a true environmental ethos – Clockwork Soldier is committed to reducing waste and removing plastics from their products and there is no messy glue or scissors needed here! 

The Create Your Own Paper Pocket Money Kits! reflect the brand’s environmental and educational values, as they look at commercial market areas that are unsustainable and could be changed for the better. One area this innovative brand investigated, was the party bag fillers as they found it was very hard to find party bag fillers that were environmentally friendly. This was their motivation for acting and developing a product that does something about it.  

Each pocket-sized product is made from one piece of card that folds flat into an envelope to reduce its volumetric and carbon footprint. When creating this range, we tried to take all the elements of a party bag and make them into one sustainable product. Each product is usually filled with make-your-own activities including a pop-out activity, a game to play, jokes, and facts. The products can come packed in a cardboard point-of-sale unit that can be refilled reducing the use of extra cardboard inner cartons and waste. Clockwork Soldier is absolutely leading the way when it comes to innovative, design-led, sustainable gifts. 

The Gift of the Year Awards are the most highly respected industry accolades, aimed at recognising the best new products, talent, and inspiration in our industry each year. The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony in London on 11th May 2023. Speaking of the awards, Clockwork Soldier founder, Rob Dakin said, “It is an honour to be a finalist once again in the Gift of the Year Awards. The two products that have made the finals really reflect our ethos as a company, and we are excited for the award ceremony in May.” 

Whatever the result in the Gift of the Year Awards in May, consumers can still cast their vote and ensure that Clockwork Soldier are awarded for their innovation, creativity and commitment to children’s education and the planet they are inheriting from us. The People’s Choice Awards, which is one of the categories in the Gift of the Year, is open to the public. The product with the most public votes will be crowned The People’s Choice 2023.
